Reiki Sessions with Sunyata
What is Reiki?
Of all the healing systems, Reiki is among the most simple, and profound. Simply put, Reiki is the laying on of hands with positive healing intent, a practice some believe to be derived from Tibetan Buddhism. The word ‘Reiki’ means ‘universal life force energy,’ and its practice is intended to help ease suffering, illness and imbalance, and aid in each person’s life path and wellness.

The traditional modality of Reiki practiced today is transferred to new practitioners through a series of energetic attunements that open the receiver to become a channel for reiki energy. Once attuned, the Reiki practitioner taps into the universal life force, and is able to direct healing energy with positive intent for the receiver without depleting his/her own energy reserves.

I have received the attunements for a Reiki Master (Shinpiden) level, certified by Reiki Master Judy Noon.

I offer two types of Reiki sessions: Sensual & Non-Sensual

Non-sensual Reiki sessions -client is fully clothed and conform to standard Reiki session boundary guidelines.

Sensual Reiki sessions include Reiki healing energy and elements of massage, reflexology, and acupressure addressing the unity and wholeness of the body. The session has a larger container of trust and permission that is designed to shift and move energy on a deeper level.

Founded in eastern philosophy, Reiki has a series of principles that were passed down from Mikao Usui (credited with rediscovering Reiki), who focused on both physical healing and spiritual awakening. The five Reiki principles are presented as a poem written by the Meiji Emperor, and were often recited during meetings of Usui’s healing society, the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, and are often suggested as part of Reiki meditation. There are many different translations which all revolve around similar concepts:

Just for today be happy
just for today be peaceful in your heart
show appreciation and practice gratitude
work hard and joyfully on your path
hold kindness and compassion in your heart

Reiki Session FAQ:

What happens in a Reiki session?
I start Reiki sessions with some time presencing ourselves and harmonizing through gentle eye-gazing and breathing together. To receive Reiki, generally you will be lying down on a massage table (however standing or sitting is also possible) while I pass my hands over you and place them on your body (over clothing) channeling Reiki energy.

You might feel any of the following: tingling sensations, warmth, emotional releases, shivering, shaking, "kryas" -releases of energy, deep calm, and peacefulness.

You will be clothed for non-sensual Reiki sessions and comfortably unclothed for sensual Reiki sessions.

What does Sensual Reiki include?
Besides being comfortably unclothed, Sensual Reiki sessions simply include areas of the body not included in traditional Reiki sessions. The intention is the same as non-sensual Reiki sessions: to provide opportunity for healing through Reiki energy channeled to wherever your body needs it -trusting in Reiki's divine wisdom for healing, expanding, releasing, opening, and moving stuck energy.

Sensual Reiki sessions include "energy work" and conscious touch to the muladhara (perineum), swadhisthana (sacrum), and manipura (abdomen), energy centers of the body (called chakras) and energy pathways using massage, integrative touch, and toning to clear and move stuck energies.

Will I get sexually aroused during the session?
The intention of a Sensual Reiki session is not to fulfill sexual gratification but to focus on energetic healing facilitated by gentle, conscious touch and focus. You might feel aroused and sensually excited by the process and you're invited to let it be a secondary consideration focusing awareness on energy movement and flow.
